Sands Resorts Macao showed no limits when it came to reimagining spaces during their #RediscoverMacao familiarisation trip earlier this month.
A secret black-tie dinner was unveiled in a hotel lobby. Cocktails and dancing occurred under the Eiffel Tower. Yoga and qigong were practiced in a floating flower garden. Sands Resorts Macao showed no limits when it came to reimagining their spaces during their #RediscoverMacao familiarization trip earlier this month.
For five days, the full diaspora of Sands Lifestyle experiences was on glamorous display across the three integrated resorts: The Venetian, The Parisian, and the fully renovated The Londoner. The itinerary also included a deep dive into the wonderful world of Macao’s local cultural and culinary delights.
To kick off the five-day showcase, the Eiffel Tower Observatory Deck attraction of The Parisian was transformed into an outdoor Cocktail Reception, complete with live-action cooking stations, a DJ, and a dance floor.
The following morning, Sands Resorts utilized interconnected ballroom spaces and dressed multiple venues to seamlessly transition 200 event professional attendees from one space to another with zero time wasted on mobility. A MICE forum in a smart hybrid space, a luncheon with live entertainment, and a chef team-building challenge each took place in rapid succession across multiple venues and just steps away from each other.
In the evening, delegates arrived at the stunning Colonnade of The Venetian to discover black curtains unveiling a long candlelit banquet hall – the hidden venue for the evening’s black-tie dinner, which was punctuated with live musical entertainment, a fashion show, and glittery gold fan dances.
Space was literally reimagined at morning wellness programs held inside teamLab SuperNature Macao, where early risers were rewarded with an ever-shifting, immersive video art installation taking attendees to the edges of space, dimension, and time while stretching out to their favorite yoga, qigong, and meditation routines.
Sands Resorts also took delegates on a rediscovery of the city, which included gift-wrapped Macao moments like egg tart pastry classes and historical walks along the sleepy coasts of Colonade, as well as local dining excursions into the nearby old Taipa village and (for the daring) skywalks atop Macau Tower.
As this was the resort’s first major post-pandemic media familiarization trip, #RediscoveryMacao challenged attendees to not only rethink the limits of their event spaces but also the multitude of experiences possible in Macao as a world-class MICE destination. Sands has long developed large-scale plans for meetings in Macao and, as a result, works closely with the local government to realize this shared vision for Macao’s future and diversification of visitor arrivals.
Of Macao’s 190,000 sqm of meeting space, Sands has built and operates 79% of the city’s total (150,000 sqm) and has run 540 expos and over 5,000 events over the last 15 years.
Regarding the event and the show of Sands’ commitment to Macao, Sands China Ltd. Senior Vice President of Hotel Operations, Kris Kaminsky said, “The carefully curated itinerary gave attendees an immersive experience of all that makes Macao a world-class MICE destination and showcased our ongoing support of the Macao Government Tourism Office’s ‘tourism + MICE’ initiative.”
